Oh No! MNS Gives A Final Warning To Multiplex Owners Days Before Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s Release
Just as Karan Johar and co. gets set for the film to hit theatres comes a chilling message from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena; they threaten multiplex owners with dire consequences if they release the film
Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is days away from release – it hits theatres on October 28 – and yesterday Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) sent a threatening message to multiplex owners asking them to not screen the movie.
The note said, “We won't let the film air even in Multiplexes as it features Pakistani actors. Multiplex owners need to stay away from airing films featuring Pakistani actors. Or else...remember how expensive your glass walls are!”
Damn!
In the wake of the Uri terrorist attacks, which killed 19 Indian soldiers, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association’s (IMPPA) had announced that it will not work with Pakistani artistes until peace resumes between India and Pakistan. This ban directly affected films like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (as it features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai) and Raees which comprises Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan. Soon after the IMPPA announcement, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena announced that they will not allow the release of the two films.
However, a few days later the association went soft on its hard stand on the two films. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, the Vice President of IMPPA took to Twitter to announce that the body has requested MNS leaders Amey Khopkar and Shalini Thackeray to allow the peaceful release of the films as they are ready for release.
Further, despite calling for smooth release of the two films he maintained the stand against Pakistani artistes and said that the association has written a letter to the Prime Minister asking him to cancel their work visas.
